Unfortunately Puppy Mills are a much bigger problem that it seems. Most of the dogs living in these "hellish" conditions are repeatedly bred to sell the puppies to unknowing people looking for a new family friend. Most dogs in Puppy Mills have serious health concerns which go untreated and which may be passed on genetically to the "cute" puppy from the pet store. Most of the puppies produced in a Puppy Mill also will develop socialization/behavioral issues in the future as they mature. These poor innocent animals are often kept in VERY poor conditions and usually malnourished. They are rarely vaccinated at all and the females are continuously bred until death in many cases. Many of the animals living in the lower cages eventually go blind from the urine's ammonia which they are continuously saturated in.
